Does anyone run a water softener and if so have you had problems with your intensifier pump?

We installed a water softener as soon as we got our jet. We ran maybe 10 hours max without soft water. We've only got 500 hours on the pump but it seems to be working fine. No issues other than normal. it was highly recommended that we soften the water.

We have a softener but had the bypass valve on so we ran hard water for about a year with no real problems. then we got the softener running and ran into problems. we started having inconsistant strokes. we took the pump apart and found dark debree in it. i figured it was burnt sodium from the water softener not running correct. we cleaned the pump and its running fine on hard water again.

Pretty much count on the fact that you will need a softener. If you run heavily, get a dual tank softener so you can recharge on the fly.

Culligan for a dual tank. If you are running 8 hours or less a day, the Sears units will work just fine.
