I need to cut parts out of a plate of 1 5/8 inch mild steel. I have never attempted to cut anything this thick, and was looking for information on the appropriate dwell time for something of this thickness. At no point will I be able to start "off the part" and lead into the part. I must pierce the material every time. So far I am set up for Line lead in (at .200 long) and arc out (at .150 long). What should be my "abrasive on" dwell time for this? Also I have an 87k pump.
