would like to hear methods and sugestions for cutting brittle material. i have a job cutting .75" travertine coming up and i have done some practice cuts in which the material is chipping during the pierce. i have made adjustments to the pressure and abrasive dwell but sure would like to have some addtional info on the best practice for this procedure
I'd recommend piercing with low pressure and pierce all holes first option Set dwell to about 10 secs for 3/4" material, 15-20 for 1-1/4 material Also change the abrasive on setting to .5sec before water on, this way the abrasive feed tube is preloaded to the mixing chamber inlet instead of waiting for the vacuum from the water on to pull it from the abrasive meter. As well when I'm piercing sensitive material like this I pause the machine after pierce and check the abrasive line for wet abrasive or blockage as it seems my machine like to block the abrasive feed tube with wet carbide after a couple low pressure pierces.
