hi guys new on here just wondered if any one has had same problems how to overcome them my garnet delivery line flows really inconsistantley ie from full pelt to nothing i've tried unblocking it and works fine but as soon as i connect back to the mini hopper it just becomes too slow to feed the cutting head and the mini hopper is empty by the time i have pierced 2 holes i'd appreciate any advice thanks!!!!!?????
There's a couple of things to look at here.. Abrasive flow relies on some pretty basic principles to flow. Gravity being one of them and vacuum from the cutting head being another.
Make sure that you have clean dry air supplying your abrasive. This will ensure that it flows evenly out of the mini-hopper. Wet or damp abrasive has a tendency to clump and not move through the system all that evenly. Make sure you do not have any vacuum leaks at the cutting head either. Any air leak will cause it to NOT pull the abrasive into the mixing chamber. Vacuum is lazy and always takes the easy road. It has to do more work to pull the abrasive and if it has a choice to pull air, it will do that.
If you have a vac assist, make sure the pinch valve is not damaged and leaking. If you don't have one, make sure that ear is blocked off. Falls under NO Vacuum leaks.
The Flow guys have been really helpful with this stuff in the past, give them a call and they will be able to point out other areas I may have missed.
did you solve your problem? are you speaking of the line from the pressure pot to the mini hopper or the line from the mini hopper to the cutting head?
check to see that your focus tube is not too close to the orifice section of the cutting head for example, on a paser 4 the retainers (plastic and metal) should be set so that 3.41" of the tube extends past them. if it is too close to the top the venturi effect that creats the vaccum drawing the garnet into the tube is limted or cut off all together.
on our 60k flow with the ECL paser 4 head we had continuing garnet delivery problems until we changed to the setting above. since then not a single issue and its cutting great.
If your mini hopper is running out, then it sounds like the problem is with the transfer from the bulk hopper to the mini hopper. We had this problem for a bit, turned out the abrasive transfer line ( the big one) had been rubbing against the cable guide track on the x- axis and had sprung a leak. This loss in pressure prevented the abrasive from being delivered from the bulk hopper to the mini hopper. Check your lines, check your bulk hopper pressure, make sure your air is dry, abrasive is dry etc
