REMOVING GARNET DUST AND WATE MIST FROM ROOM
Permalink

Im looking for some answers as to how I can remove garnet dust and water vapor created by our 5-axis water jet. The water jet is contained in a room 25'x25'x16'.The system would have to capture the dust and water, filter it and recycle clean air back into the room.I have had several companies come in and give me a quote for this and they were in the neighborhood of 20k.Im on a tight budget and looking for something cheaper but effective. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

I faced that situation about 5 years ago where I work. We have 3 bespoke machines and were quoted around the same as you have - for each machine! 60K? Not a hope!

I was given the task of finding an alternative. I managed to get, after testing, an 85% reduction in airborne dust - not perfect but good enough, well under the UK limits. I brought this in around 2.5K per machine.

I used water misting elements from these guys http://uk.spray.com/index.aspx

Dust capture on our machines was easy due to their shape, your 5 axis machine could be a challenge.

Thinking off the cuff here but you could use a condensating nozzle near to the mixing tube, create a misting curtain around the perimeter of your 5 axis, put a galvanised funnel duct above your machine and direct the mist into a vessel containing condensing nozzles and feed that into your waste stream...

Don't know if this can help you in your situation but it's worth a look...

Regards.
