cougar 2 pump pressure problem

i have a pressure problem with a cougar2 pump , i can build 40000 psi , when i turn cutting head on pressure drops to 30000 and stays, i have serviced check valves, dynamic bushings, installed new diamond orifice .

any idea about what to check next?

I am not familiar with Flow pumps as we use Jet Edge and we also have one Accustream but the theory remains the same. What is the GPM rating of the pump? What size orifice are you using and how many? If you are exceeding the flow capability your pressure will be reduced. Is the pump laboring while running or cycling more rapidly than normal? Is it a single cylinder or dual, if dual are they both activated. We have 8 pumps, 7 of which are run in-line together so as more heads are fired we fire up more pumps to minimize the pressure reduction. Our pumps start up at 55k but typical head pressure is around 50k after travelling through the lines, elbows etc...

One other thought:

Check your incomming water, I'm not sure what the spec's are for your pump but if you arent feeding the pump enough it wont output the volume you need to maintain the 40k either. You may have filter issues on the inlet side.
