I am quite new in this business and I would like to know if anybody has experience of the waterjet cutting usage in the Oil and Gas industry? Does anybody know which materials are cutted in this specific area (for instance subsea, pipelines? ) and companies that are dealing with that?
Most commonly cut are components used for the infrastructure to support oil and gas exploration. Flanges, weldments, repairs, etc. There is some underwater use of the waterjet, though limited. This is usually done using a surface-mounted portable diesel powered pump, similar to the Flow Husky, that has high pressure line running down to depth. You do lose pressure at depth both due to the length of line needed and the counterforces of generated by the pressure at depths. Common components can be put together to create a "Deep Sea" unit, but generally this application only comes up when something goes wrong with using more conventional methods.
