High pressure food pasteurization thingy
Permalink

Saw a thing on the food network about a company called "Wholly Guacamole" (cool name, or what?!?) that uses a machine that puts so much pressure on the packaged product that it kills the bacteria in it.  I forget the name they gave to the process, but basically it's like cold pasteurization.  Keeps the food fresh, yet kills germs.  Of course, I noticed the huge FLOW logo on the machine.
What the heck is it?  How come Flow hasn't mentioned it in their newsletter?  Or maybe I just missed it?

It is referred to as "Fresher Under Pressure" or "Flash Pasteurization". The systems use up to 120,000psi to kill all the bacteria. The company is AVURE that produces the systems, which was owned by Flow and then sold a few years ago. Flow still exclusively provides all the pumps for these systems. It also provides a good means to support ultra high pressure pumps that will someday make it to cutting machines.
