about a year ago i had to replace the crank case on the machine due to it locking up from lack of oil (my second shift guy was changing the oil on the machine and didn't finish and also didn't tell me and was my off day to check the oil level. sweet right?) i changed it out and everything was done in a frenzy but it was done correctly. about 5 to 6 months after the fact the belt would sound like it was "howling" or "screeching" sort of like a bad belt in a car but obviously this belt being much larger sounds way more terrible. but it would only happen every now and then but present day it does it almost every time its on a long run or if the program has a lot of on/off cycles. the belt doesn't look worn and the sheaves are clean so i don't think slipping is the issue
all that being said I'm asking if anyone else has had this happen to them and what they did to fix it. all three of my sheaves are aligned properly which makes me think the idler/tensioner is slipping around. i can move the idler side to side. i don't know if it supposed to do that to compensate the belt shimmying.
i am rather baffled and quite frustrated
any help would be much appreciated
thanks in advance

Back when we had a direct drive pump, I had a noise like that. Had to replace the bearing in the idler pulley.
