I have a job cutting 3 inch mild steel . I am using a flow 87000 mach 4 machine with 80 grit garnet cutting at 20%. Just curious what others are running at ,and any way to speed things up a bit.

I run it between 20% - 50% with a flow Mach2 60 KSI intensifier using 80HPA abrasive @1.0lbs/min with 14/40 mixing tube. Usually these parts get secondary operations so I am not too concerned about the kerf left afterwards. so depending on the tolerances you need to achieve it will do a decent material separation at 60%. Keep in mind that when doing the heavier plate the slower you go the more damage you will do to the slats on the table, be prepared to replace them afterwards. I cut a large amount of heavy plate up to 8" thick with the machine, the one thing i have experienced is that it's not going to be a highly productive day when doing those jobs.
