Help me - I'm new to the waterjet. I'm trying to cut 1" plexiglass and it is cracking the material at the pierce point internally. No material is chipped out, however you can see a fingernail sized chip in the plexiglass near the pierce point. Hi pressure? Lo pressure? Spiral?

I have been cutting 1in and thicker plexiglass for years. what i like to do is pre drill if i can not use a long lead in. all i do is mark the places where i will pierce with a marker and use a small drill bit. works great adds a little time though.

if you dont feel like drilling, then you could try cutting in from outside the sheet. When cutting any fragile material like glass, that's what i always do. I nest it in a manner that the whole sheet is one continuous cut.
