In Flowcut, there's a button you can click to auto-adjust the straightness. Of course, it's doesn't work with our version of the software/machine. What exactly does one need to make this function work?

This function works with the Dynamic Waterjet Cutting Head. It is designed to make sure that both the A axis and B axis motors are aligned so that the cutting head is perpendicular to the work surface.

I understand WHY it's there. It's just a pain in the xss with the dial indicator. What I was asking was, what's required for the AUTO straightness adjustment?

Gotcha. Well, kind of a long story. We had some things in mind when we put it in there a few years back. Those big ideas never quite materialized the way we envisioned. Fast forward to today and we actually have something developed now that will achieve this but a retofit version isn't quite completed yet. It is being worked on though, and your dreams of leaving the dial indicator in the Kennedy toolbox will be reality shortly. I don't have any final info on the retrofit cost, but it should be pretty reasonable.
Call and ask for me at Flow and I can give you more specific info.
Good Luck,
Tim Fabian

Thanks for the fill-in. I probably won't be calling from work; they'd rather have me cutting than calling. But maybe I'll lean on my employer to at least get the new auto setup for the newest machine. Our 87k was built over a tank that's longer than the reach of the head. Don't ask me why. It just means that you have really strettttcccchh over the table to do any maintenance on the head. The Auto feature would be nice there, methinks.

Thanks again for the info.
